Evil Element

I finally installed the Nokia PC Suite software on my laptop tonight and I managed to transfer some pics that I took last week. As a member in the Palestinian Solidarity Group in Leeds Uni we organised "Palestine Film Week". And to cut the long story short here's the event's poster:

We had a stall outside the Student Union to publicise our film show. A huge model of the racist Israeli Wall was dominating our stall's message. We had to go through the hassle of daily negotiations with the Union's executives and the University secretary before we could get the permission to display the wall. Yet we were asked not to put "The Israeli Wall in the Palestinian Lands" must beany wordings that might me inflammatory to the pro-Israeli students. And it was surprising enough for us to get the clarification that even a factual wording such as reconsidered. So we had to play the game carefully, comply with the university's rulingsyet without offering any more compromises. We didn't write the word "Israeli" at all on the wall. Instead our big title was "The Wall must Fall". And we printed on a 2.5-meter high sheet the International Court of Justice's advice on the legal status of the wall, which included all the facts that we needed to write, and we stuck it to the wall -though we didn't write on the wall itself as we promised the Uni :-). What was most effective and attracted even Chinese -whom I thought they'll never get interested in our events- was to write the slogan "Stop the War" in 10 different languages in big letters on the wall itself. What looked very non innocent was that the Jewish Society was organising the Israeli Awareness Week few steps away from our stall. Many people argued that this was childish from both sides, but both PSG and JSoc claimed it wasn't more than an unplanned coexistence. According to my sources these claims are not accurate, but I won't tell you which bloc played the dirty game. You figure it out yourself!
