Boycott the Spy!

For those who do not know yet, Fastlink was found guilty by a Jordanian court for spying on its main competitor, MobileCom. The ruling came three years after MobileCom filed an industrial espionage suit against Fastlink following suspicions of the latter having access to some secretive inside information of MobileCom.

If such a scandal was to take place anywhere in the world other than Jordan it would have occupied the news headlines for weeks. We would have seen protests against the shameless company, and calls from customer protection groups to boycott the spies. A huge share of the customer would respond positively to these calls because they have respect for themselves and they see nothing worse than someone lying on them no matter how much they benefit from them. In Jordan it seems that it is not only Fastlink that is unethical, but also the whole Jordanian media as well as every single Fastlink customer who learnt about the graceful scandal and insists to disregard it as long as Fastlink is giving the "best offer".

The media's reaction was expected. No newspaper, television or radio station dared to publish anything about the latest court's ruling as they all knew that the high-handed Fastlink can easily stop showering them with its advertisements gold. I was involved in the Jordanian media for two years, an enough time to watch the dirty politics going there. Since then I never trusted our local media and thanks for Fastlink for proving me right one more time.

Going back to the nearly two million subscribers to Fastlink's network, I call upon you to rethink about your relation with a company that did not even bother to save its picture and dignity by at least apologising to MobileCom and to its own customers for cheating them for many years. I encourage you to take a strong stance on this and make the decision to boycott Fastlink. Yes, I want Jordanians to teach the spies an unforgettable lesson. I do not care whether you shift to MobileCom or any other service provider, as it is all about seeing you taking the initiative to free Jordan from corruption and immorality. Let Fastlink be our first target; they wanted it, they will get it.
