Get Out of UN... Now!
Following the frustrating news runs me so crazy. Rome's conference is calling for an international force and a full implementation of the UN security council resolution 1559. Some one is stupid here, either me or all those attending the conference. Please correct me if I'm mistaken on this. How would a limited-power int'l force in southern Lebanon help the Lebanese and save them from Zionist fire? The only thing it will and is going to do would be to prevent Hezbollah resistance heroes from approaching the borderline. Israel will still be free-handed to shell whole of Lebanon from North to South via air, sea and land without any tiny resistance. Israelis won't leave it to the rest of the world to finish their job, and they won't hesitate attacking 10 UN officers if they are within a short distance from one of their targets. Someone may argue that having a UN representation their would help attesting the Israeli crimes by an Int'l body. Come on, no one is giving a damn (excuse my French) about the UN except us. Oh, and by the way as the world really cares about the Israeli casualties and intends to secure the Zionist settlers (yes I mean all Israelis) from Hizbullah's rockets, don't the Palestinians deserve the most such a treatment from the international community to save their lives from the Israeli blood-thirsty army?!
This leads me to the 1559 resolution mockery. I'm not going to discuss it's content. All what concerns me here is the fact that it is the only UN resolution Lebanon hasn't implemented so far, while Israel has been the main threat to international law by breaking hundreds of the UN resolutions since 1946. The nice thing about UN resolutions is that they are numerically ordered, thus we should all have no problem urging Hezbollah to implement the 1559 resolution once the 1558 resolutions that preceded it get fully implemented. Isn't this fair? Otherwise the whole UN is useless and double-standardizing and we should be in no need as Arab and Muslim countries to stay as members in such a corrupt institution.
I've just remembered another thing. I listened to Amr Mousa's press conference in which he stated: "We all -the Arab foreign ministers- agreed unanimously that the peace process is dead"! There must be something wrong here. It's either Amr Mousa is not saying the truth about what happened in their meeting, or it's the Jordanian and Egyptian FMs who do not understand what it means to say "The peace process is dead". It is dead, deeeeeead! Israel is not our friend anymore, can't you understand you two *******s?!

The peace process is dead, now it is a new game being played.
The Arab FM attending the Rome meeting aren't doing that in order to play the old 'peace process' game, they are in their new capacity as official stooges (allies?) or the US in its alliance against Iran and all the 'rejectionist' forces in the region who refuse US hegemony.
Yes its dead, and by attending Rome, they openly acknowledge the death of the old order, and their entry into the new one.
Akram I agree with your arguement but "leaving" the Un is not the solution. On the contrary what we are wittnessing now is the USA taking individual and complete control of global decisions which means that the UN should be strengthened. The problem with the Un is that the USA pais around of 40% of the UN budget and this they seek control If the Gulf Countries, Japan and the EU substitute this money the UN will be more independent of the USA. Anyway, this issue is being debated with high fever in the global press and there is a consensus of the arrogance of the USA but we still need a solution.
Batir, I know this may sound crazy but let USA play in its own UN and let's have out own UN. The Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) counts for 57 members by itself and I'm positive other countries would love to leave the UN if found the support. This way we won't be not bound to the stupid security council decisions anymore, and you know what? we won't even be bound to the UN partition plan of 1947 which means the whole of Palestine will be ours. See, easy!
Actually this is not crazy but areal possibility. Many countries and blocs are getting tired of the American influence. Germany has been trying for ages to have a seat in the five permanent security council members (USA, UK, Russia, China and France) and failed. Both Brazil and India (leaders of their continents) have the same requests. The break-up of the UN is a real possibility. The problem is the OIC is more useless than the UN!
OK, First you're kinda right. No limited international force is going to protect you from "Zionist fire".
On the other hand, Hezb'Allah resistance heros can't protect you from it either. Hezb'Allah is launching rockets from school yards and back yards, diving for cover before the return fire arrives, and hiding like juvenile deliquents would from the police. Lebanon is getting savaged because those "heros" can't protect you and in fact they never could.
Hezb'Allah has sold you a line of s*** about how wonderful and strong they are and if you think I'm wrong check the news yourself in the morning. Those Zionists are running around any where they like, any time they like and destroying whatever captures their fancy. Hezb'Allah thinks they have had a big day when they can kill 14 Israelis. That's pathetic.
So maybe it wasn't Hezb'Allah's strength that got the Zionists out in the first place, eh? Maybe this isn't the only thing you've been misled about. I'm an american and I know about "misled". Something for you to check out on your own later.
Wake up and smell the phosphorous. Your "heroic" attack dog has turned out to be a ferret.

Batir, I'm absolutely with you in that one, yet one can still say if it's useless at least it's not that harmless as the US.
And for the Angry pan, thank you for reflecting another perspective of the story, but I know and I'm that Hizbullah knows that their power is in no way going to beat the Zionists (Israel and its allies). The difference is that whether Hizbullah does anything about or not the Palestinian will continue to be killed and terrorised, Hizbullah is saying to the Palestinians you are not alone their, If Palestinians have to suffer then Lebanese aren't better than you. I know this sounds very romantic to you, but this is how things should be. Palestinians have been made a tiny step forward or seen a real peace since their land was occupied in 1948 and thus we don't have the right to live in peace until they do, otherwise we'll be so selfish, ignorant and apathic.
